[Sports Today reporter Jeong Ye-won] Onew’s agency has issued an update on its legal actions.
Griffin Entertainment posted on its official social media on the 27th outlining its response to recent violations of Onew’s rights.
The company said that, following last year’s notice of legal action, it has filed complaints against nine individuals who posted malicious content. It added that it will not stop there and is initiating a second phase of legal measures.
Griffin said it has been conducting focused monitoring of major domestic and international online communities and social media channels. The statement stressed that hiding behind anonymity to defame an artist or spread false information is a clear crime, and the agency will maintain a zero-tolerance policy with no leniency or settlements.
The agency also urged fans to continue submitting tips, calling those reports its most powerful resource. It pledged to use every available measure to prioritize protecting Onew’s rights and to hold perpetrators strictly accountable as it works to eradicate malicious commenters.
Meanwhile, Onew will hold fan meetings in five Asian cities, including Seoul, beginning April 3.
