[Sports Today reporter Song O-jeong] Broadcaster Jang Sung-kyu’s comments have drawn attention amid an infidelity scandal involving the son of veteran broadcasters Hong Seo-beom and Jo Gap-gyeong.
Recently, Jang has been playfully connecting fans under the hashtag “Please Marry Me.” Positioning himself as a lighthearted matchmaker, he attracted significant interest — and some mischievous replies from people who are already in relationships asking him to make introductions.
In that context, Jang wrote on his social media, “Hey — to those of you who already have a boyfriend, girlfriend, or spouse: I understand the excitement, but please hold back. I can’t encourage cheating or affairs.”
It appears many of those interactions were meant as playful banter with partnered fans. Still, Jang’s comment drew extra scrutiny because it coincided with allegations that Mr. A, the son of Hong and Jo, had an affair.

Mr. A’s ex-wife, Ms. B, won a partial ruling in an alimony lawsuit she filed against him in September last year. According to a court decision released to the press, Mr. A married Ms. B in February 2024 but later that year developed an inappropriate relationship with a colleague, Ms. C.
Ms. B says she repeatedly informed her in-laws, Hong and Jo, about the affair, but that they did nothing. She criticized them for shielding a family member.
In response to the controversy, Hong told the YouTube channel “GaroSero Research Institute” that the matter is under appeal and legal questions remain. He said child support payments were withheld on the advice of their lawyer until the courts issue a final decision.
As the public reacted with shock to the private-life revelations involving a celebrity family, a preview for next week’s MBC “Radio Star” included Jo Gap-gyeong. Debate over Jo’s appearance, combined with Jang’s remarks, suggests the controversy is unlikely to die down soon.
