Actor Kim Byeong-se recently revealed that he married a businesswoman 15 years his junior and has been living in the United States during his eight-year hiatus from the entertainment industry.

Through his YouTube channel ‘Byeong-se World,’ Kim shared that he tied the knot with a Korean woman residing in the U.S.

Kim effectively stepped away from acting in 2018. This YouTube video marks his first public announcement of his marriage.

In the video, Kim described 2018 as a pivotal year in his life. His mother passed away while in the U.S., but he couldn’t attend her funeral due to filming commitments for the MBC drama ‘Rich Family’s Son.’ After wrapping up the project, he visited the U.S. that October to pay respects at his mother’s grave, leading to a serendipitous encounter.

Recalling his first meeting with his wife, arranged through a mutual friend, Kim said, “When she walked in for our blind date, I saw a halo around her. She looked like a fairy or an angel. I felt an unusual intuition, different from just butterflies in my stomach. It felt like fate.”

Despite his active career in Korea, Kim couldn’t shake thoughts of his wife after returning home, prompting him to fly back to the U.S. just three weeks later.

“I ended up proposing just 90 days after we met,” Kim shared. “I had a strong feeling that if I didn’t marry her then, I might never have another chance.”

Explaining his decision to settle in the U.S. post-marriage, Kim said, “My wife has a steady career, while my work is more sporadic. So, I moved to the U.S. After getting my green card, I naturally drifted away from Korean television.”

Regarding his current situation and future plans, Kim stated, “I’m not stressed about working less in broadcasting. I’ve auditioned a few times here, and if opportunities arise in Korea, I’m open to returning to acting.” He remains receptive to the idea of making a comeback in the industry.

Born in 1962, Kim Byeong-se made his debut in the 1993 film ‘Western Road.’ He went on to star in numerous popular dramas, including ‘Hur Jun,’ ‘Empress Myeongseong,’ ‘All In,’ and ‘Dr. Jin.’ Recently, he launched a personal YouTube channel to stay connected with his fans.
