Actor Jang Geun-suk, chef Yoon Nam-no, and singer Tsuki joined forces on the MBC program “Discovery of the Table.”

The show, which aired on the afternoon of the 10th, delved into the theme of “Adding Time and Care to Ingredients.”
The cast of “Discovery of the Table,” on a mission to uncover the unique aspects of familiar Korean cuisine, met for the first time that day. Host Jang Geun-suk was joined by an eclectic group including Tsuki, a Japanese member of the K-pop group Billie, author Kwak Jae-sik, and a team of renowned chefs such as Yoon Nam-no and David Lee.
The ensemble sampled a variety of spicy dishes, ranging from Taepyeongcho, a local specialty from Yeongju, Gyeongbuk, to fiery cold noodles and the ever-popular tteokbokki. Tsuki and Yoon Nam-no, struggling with the heat, frantically searched for milk to cool their palates. The group then engaged in a lively discussion about chili peppers, the key to spiciness, before embarking on a culinary journey to explore the origins of heat in traditional Korean sauces.
Their quest led them to Yeongju, a region famous for its traditional soybean paste. There, they sought out a local expert and took on the challenge of making gochujang (Korean red chili paste) from scratch.
“Discovery of the Table” is MBC’s latest K-food road documentary, featuring Jang Geun-suk and top-tier chefs as they set out to rediscover the hidden flavors, wisdom, and beauty of everyday Korean cuisine.
