(The CEN News / Reporter Song Jeong-hun) Samsung Electronics hosted The Brief New York, a two-day seminar on home-appliance technology in the U.S. on the 15th and 16th (local time), unveiling AI-powered features designed to redefine at-home living.
The event took place at Samsung’s Connected Experience Center (CEC) showroom in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, and was staged for local media and influencers.
Samsung presented a “Home Companion” scenario: a suite of AI-enabled appliances intended to ease household chores and improve quality of life.
At the showcase, the company demonstrated practical applications of AI recognition across refrigerators, ovens and robot vacuums that aim to simplify everyday tasks.
The 2026 Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerator introduces an AI Vision feature that uses internal cameras to track items moving in and out of the fridge in real time.
It recognizes fresh and packaged foods as well as container labels and automatically logs them in a Food List. That allows users to check their fridge inventory remotely, manage ingredients more efficiently and curb unnecessary duplicate purchases.
The Bespoke AI Oven supports “AI Pro Cooking,” a system that improves cooking outcomes while minimizing hands-on intervention. Using internal cameras, it identifies ingredients, suggests optimal cooking settings, monitors color changes during cooking and, via SmartThings, notifies users when action is needed to prevent burning.
The oven can also compile a time-lapse of the cooking process for easy sharing on social media.
Samsung has extended advanced AI recognition to cleaning devices as well, boosting both cleaning performance and user convenience. The 2026 Bespoke AI Steam Ultra robot vacuum pairs an RGB camera sensor with infrared LEDs to detect—and either avoid or target—transparent liquids that were previously difficult to spot.
Targeting North America with a refrigerator lineup tailored to local living and food culture
Samsung rolled out a broad new refrigerator lineup designed around North American priorities: large-capacity storage, hygiene and efficient use of kitchen space.
Highlights include Space Max, which increases internal storage without changing exterior dimensions; an Auto-fill water purifier that automatically refills large volumes of water; a Beverage Center that houses the dispenser inside a showcase compartment; and an Ice Maker capable of producing six types of ice, from square cubes to whiskey-ball ice.
The company also introduced a French-door refrigerator with Zero Clearance technology that installs flush like a built-in unit with just a 4 mm gap on each side.
Samsung emphasized the distinctiveness of its connectivity and security features—key in a hyperconnected home—such as Bixby, which handles complex natural-language commands to deliver personalized appliance experiences, and Samsung’s Knox security solution, which protects personal data.
Moon Jong-seung, vice president of Samsung Electronics’ DA business unit, said, “Samsung’s AI appliances are evolving into home companions that understand and assist consumers’ lives. We will pursue the North American market aggressively by delivering features tailored to local lifestyles and by expanding our distinctive AI ecosystem.”
