Chef Ahn Seong-jae, who recently issued a personal apology over a wine-service controversy at his restaurant Mosu, is back in the spotlight.
But it’s not only the incident drawing attention—online observers have also zeroed in on the cars he drives and the brands he favors.
Ahn has long been known as an avid car enthusiast.
He owns a Porsche 911 Carrera S — an icon among sports cars — and recently received support from Maserati in the form of an Italian luxury vehicle, which has only increased public interest.

Ahn has said his car is a Porsche 911 Carrera S.
In a past interview he described Porsche as a brand that conveys \”inner strength,\” a comment that revealed his affection for the marque. He has also said he once dreamed of becoming a Porsche mechanic as a child.
The 911 Carrera S he owns is finished in Aventurine Green and is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces 450 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just over three seconds (0–62 mph).
Notably, the 911’s rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout — a Porsche hallmark for more than six decades — has led industry observers to compare the car’s focus on fundamentals to Ahn’s culinary ethos: a dedication to essence.
Now Even a Maserati SUV

Maserati Korea recently provided Ahn with the Grecale Nero Infinito, a limited-edition luxury SUV.
The model is a domestic one-off of just 10 units, with an all-black exterior, 21-inch wheels and a deep red interior.
Maserati said Ahn’s craftsmanship and refined sense of style align with the brand’s values.
Ahn praised the car for satisfying multiple senses — from its engine note to the feel of its leather — framing it as more than mere transport but as an emotional statement of taste.
Even Amid Controversy
Why He’s Back in the Spotlight

Ahn recently issued a personal apology for the wine-service incident at his restaurant Mosu.
The issue centered on the sommelier’s handling of vintages and the staff’s subsequent inappropriate response. Ahn said, \”Everything that happened at Mosu is my responsibility,\” and apologized personally.
Since then, online attention has extended beyond restaurant operations to Ahn’s lifestyle and his car preferences.
Commentators say Ahn chooses cars for their brand philosophy and emotional resonance, not simply because they are expensive.
