[MyDaily = Reporter Seo Ki-chan] — Creator Park Wi, who recovered after a sudden accident, opened up publicly for the first time about his intensely private daily life.

He addressed warped public perceptions and vicious comments aimed at his wife, Song Ji-eun, and offered a clear picture of what genuine independence means to him.

On the 19th, SBS aired the variety show ‘Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 – You Are My Destiny,’ presenting a warm yet candid look at the newlywed life of Song Ji-eun and Park Wi, now 19 months into their marriage.

Doctors said he might not be able to move a single finger

Park recalled the day after a fall left him with spinal nerve damage and the bleak prognosis that followed: \”It was complete paralysis. It wasn’t just that I couldn’t move — I had no sensation. I wanted to put strength into my body, but I couldn’t.\” Even doctors told him he might not be able to move a finger, he said.

He added, \”I think I exercised to survive. There are still things I can’t do, but with people’s help, they aren’t major obstacles.\” Through relentless work, he has reclaimed much of his daily life.

Viewers saw him get out of bed in the morning, move himself to another bed and dress on his own — demonstrations of surprising self-reliance.

Song Ji-eun affirmed his independence: \”I don’t help him. He does it himself.\” When she used to ask, \”Do you need anything? What can I do?\” Park would reply, \”I’m slow, but give me time and I can do it. This is all part of my rehabilitation,\” showing his determination to manage on his own.

Notably, the broadcast revealed catheters placed throughout the couple’s home, which drew attention.

I, Park Wi, do not receive help with bowel movements

Park disclosed a detail he’d kept private: \”I wear a catheter as part of my daily routine. It’s with me in the car, at home, in my wheelchair.\” To dispel misconceptions, he made a blunt declaration: \”I’m saying this publicly for the first time: I, Park Wi, do not receive help with bowel movements.\”

\”I felt I needed to explain,\” he said. \”I’m not perfect, but I urinate by myself and insert suppositories by hand. At first I felt ashamed to use devices to urinate, but eventually my thinking changed.\”

He admitted that at one point he was so embarrassed he hid his catheter. After shifting his mindset, though, he began posting candid YouTube videos with provocative titles like \”How a person with lower-body paralysis pees\” and \”How to poop in a wheelchair.\” Those videos have, he says, encouraged many people with disabilities.

He also dismantled assumptions about driving, explaining that a hand controller — operated by his hands — performs the role typically done by feet. Park’s strict commitment to independence helped Song remain composed even in the face of hateful comments on their wedding video.

Shocked by the malicious claim that they hired a \”free caregiver\”

Responding to a malicious comment accusing them of hiring a \”free caregiver,\” Song Ji-eun said with a scoff, \”Was I shocked? No — I found it laughable. They called me that.\”

She expressed deep trust and respect for her husband: \”The man I know washes his face, showers and uses the bathroom by himself.\”

On her parents’ initial concerns before the marriage, Song said, \”At first my parents were surprised and worried, but I’m confident they’d like him 100% once they saw him. Seeing his warm side turned their worry into a blessing,\” she said with a smile.

Park added, \”Now my mother actually talks to me more than she does to Ji-eun,\” underscoring the close bond between them. While driving, the couple exchanged a heartfelt moment — \”Thank you for marrying me\” — giving viewers a genuinely touching scene.
