Hyundai Department Store’s Mok-dong location said on May 5 that it has completed a major renovation and reopened its Living Hall.
The renovation covered roughly 500 pyeong on basement level 1—about 1,653 square meters (17,792 square feet)—and represents the largest overhaul since the store opened in 2002. The space has been transformed into a curated environment tailored to Mok-dong shoppers’ preferences, reflecting strong local demand for premium home goods.
As part of the relaunch, Hyundai introduced a dedicated sleep-care area called the Sleep Fitting Room. The retailer collaborated with sleep-and-relaxation music YouTuber Brainer J and scent-curation specialist ScentOn to create an immersive setting where shoppers can sample optimized conditions for better sleep.
The store also broadened its product mix. Responding to interest in Nordic design, the Living Hall now features brands such as Fritz Hansen, StayH, &Tradition, BD and Radof. Trend-driven manufacturers—including sink specialist Baekjo Sink, home-furniture label Ceres Home and custom-chair maker SizeOf—will appear in pop-up formats.
To mark the reopening, Hyundai is running several promotions. Popular furniture brands will be discounted by up to 20%, and shoppers can receive additional purchase-based benefits of up to 15%. The basement atrium will host a special sale with well-known living brands such as Ace and Tempur.
A Hyundai Department Store representative said, “We carried out this Living Hall renovation with a focus on offering new living proposals that reflect customers’ lifestyles, not merely improving the physical space. We will continue to deliver distinctive content and experiences to cement this Living Hall as the premier destination in Seoul’s western retail district.”
