[Herald Muse Reporter Kim Minji] Singer Lee Hyori says yoga transformed her life.
Lee, who opened a yoga studio in Seoul about seven to eight months ago, appeared on the YouTube channel ‘Ah Yoga’ on the 11th to discuss her practice.
After practicing daily while living on Jeju Island, Lee established her own studio in Seoul to share yoga with a broader audience. For her, yoga became a \”healthy addiction.\”
Lee said, \”I fell into such a healthy addiction to yoga that I never fell into other addictions—I’m so grateful. It’s been 12 years.\” She added, \”I’m not the type to stick with something consistently. Usually when I try something, I think, ‘This is enough,’ but yoga made me proud of myself.\”
She said choosing yoga also boosted her self-esteem: \”Who knew I had this kind of persistence? It made me feel proud that I could be consistent.\”
Lee thanked the dedicated members at her studio. \”The early-morning class really works hard; those students put a lot of effort into signing up,\” she said, noting their commitment motivates her to push herself.
She added that she has never taught the exact same class twice. \”When someone is brand-new to yoga, I change my teaching approach. Sometimes I teach entirely for beginners, and that can be refreshing for experienced students, too — returning to basics can be really beneficial,\” she said.
Lee married musician Lee Sang-soon in 2013. After living on Jeju for about a decade, the couple moved to Pyeongchang-dong in Jongno District, Seoul, in September of last year. She now runs her studio in Seoul while occasionally taking on broadcast work.
