The CEN News / Reporter Lee Ju-sang | Nam-gu District in Gwangju finished upgrades at Seungchon Park Golf and fully reopened the course on the 8th, aiming to revive community recreational sports.

Nam-gu closed the park on March 9 for roughly two months to repair turf, upgrade amenities and refurbish the course so visitors can enjoy a safer, more comfortable experience.
Work centered on restoring turf across the course, while also reinforcing safety features and improving convenience facilities.
The project included adjusting hole cup locations and replacing worn golf tees to enhance playing conditions.
Since opening, Seungchon Park Golf has seen steady growth in visitors and has become a leading community sports venue in Gwangju.
Nam-gu reported that cumulative visitors reached 114,317 from the park’s opening last year through March 8 of this year.
Annual attendance rose from 37,587 in 2024 to 60,845 in 2025; from January through early March this year, 15,885 people visited.
With the reopening, Nam-gu says it will speed up efforts to expand community sports infrastructure that supports residents’ leisure and health.
A Nam-gu official said, “The reopening allows residents to enjoy park golf in a more comfortable setting. We will continue routine maintenance and upgrades to make this a premier community sports destination.”
