Students from Yeungjin College’s Medical K-Beauty and Beauty Convergence departments marked Parents’ Day with a volunteer program that offered beauty services and personal care to seniors in the local community.
On May 8, members of the MBC (Medical Beauty Cosmetic) research club and the Byuler research club from the Beauty Convergence department visited Muryangsujeon Nursing Home in Nam-gu, Daegu, to provide makeup, nail coloring and hand massages to residents.
The event was designed to express gratitude on Parents’ Day and help seniors and their families create lasting, beautiful memories together.
Ahead of commemorative photos, students gave individualized makeup and nail services, turning the visit into a special occasion for each resident.
\”It felt deeply meaningful to bring a little happiness and joy to the seniors through what we study,\” said Choi Insuk, a participating student. \”I feel proud to have given the residents and their families warm memories they will treasure for a long time.\”
\”By sharing their skills with the community, students are learning not only techniques but also empathy and consideration,\” said Kim Hyun-jung, a professor in the Medical K-Beauty department. \”We will continue to develop K-beauty professionals who pair compassion with technical expertise through volunteer programs and hands-on education.\”
Meanwhile, the Medical K-Beauty and Beauty Convergence departments at Yeungjin College continue to run community-based beauty volunteer programs, strengthening students’ practical skills while fostering a culture of sharing and empathy.
