Imsil County, in South Korea’s North Jeolla Province, said roughly 87,000 people attended the Imsil N Pet Star festival held May 1–3. The turnout represented a 6% increase from last year and was the largest since officials merged the Osu Uigyeon Cultural Festival with the pet-focused event. County officials credited the success to expanded pet-friendly facilities, expert lectures and a varied program designed for both owners and their animals. They said they plan to leverage the millennium-old Osu Uigyeon tradition to position Imsil as a global destination for pet-culture tourism.
