Youngsan University’s Department of Geriatric Rehabilitation concluded a well-received \”park golf\” class for older residents in the Yangsan area.
The program, co-organized by Youngsan University and the Yangsan Senior Welfare Center, consisted of six sessions held from March through April. Sessions were held at the indoor park-golf course in Yangsan’s Welfare Hub Town, and lively participation from attendees kept the atmosphere upbeat.
The course was notable for its emphasis on hands-on learning. Department chair Kim Gwi-baek led instruction personally, while students served as assistant instructors to gain practical experience. Observers say the program effectively bridged classroom theory and real-world practice.
The department’s \”barrier-free\” principles shaped the curriculum. Organizers developed a tailored, safety-focused program so people of different ages and physical abilities could participate, a design that helped boost satisfaction among attendees.
\”Applying what I learned in the field made the experience meaningful,\” one participant said. \”It was especially rewarding to connect with local seniors.\”
Organizers say the class produced tangible results: improved seniors’ health, expanded social interaction, and stronger ties between the university and the local community.
Kim Gwi-baek said, \”We will continue to expand hands-on education and run programs that improve the quality of life for older adults.\”
