[iNews24 reporter Lee Sang-wan] The Gimpo Cultural Foundation said it will present the 2026 Gimpo Hanok Village Family Month Festival, ‘Hanok Noljang(場),’ on Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10 at the Hanok Village in Gimpo Art Village.
Timed for Family Month in May, the festival invites Gimpo residents and visiting families to experience noljang—a lively communal gathering—within the hanok neighborhood and make lasting memories. At Gimpo’s flagship cultural site, where traditional hanok cottages sit against the wooded slopes of Modamsan, visitors can choose from hands-on workshops and live performances.
In the hanok village’s traditional courtyard, family-oriented games—such as a large-scale family “tail-tag” and a beanbag toss—will be contested in a tournament format, with prizes for the winning teams. The program also includes casual outdoor play like carnival games, giant Jenga and a stick-grabbing challenge that anyone can enjoy.
Workshop offerings connected to the ‘Hanok Art (Full)cance’ series include “Hanok Culture Square: making a dragonfly norigae” (a traditional ornamental pendant) and a session to create a Crown Haitai snack.
Participation in these programs requires advance registration through the Gimpo Cultural Foundation website.
The festival will also feature the Gimpo Hanok Village resident workshop program and a social market showcasing Gimpo’s social-economy enterprises, giving visitors additional sights and interactive experiences.
Programming includes an audience-driven outdoor piece, “Hello, Seed!,” featuring a 4-meter (approximately 13-foot) giant puppet. The lineup also features soulful sets by the Eunhasu Band, flashy tap routines from Rhythm Site, and performances by Gimpo buskers to keep the energy high.
The Gimpo Cultural Foundation said it designed the event to offer a fresh cultural experience in a hanok during Family Month, bringing residents moments of leisure and joy. “We hope the festival strengthens family bonds and creates treasured memories,” the foundation said.
