[Herald Muse=Reporter Minji Kim] Hyeri, an actor and former member of girl group Girl’s Day, shared some of her everyday thrift habits.
On April 22, Cosmopolitan Korea posted a YouTube video titled “Check out Hyeri, a master of thrift who reuses airplane toothbrushes!” In the clip, Hyeri walked viewers through a few of her favorite personal items.
Earlier in the video she showed the apple she eats for breakfast and her beloved digital camera, then shyly produced one more item: a toothbrush. Appearing a little embarrassed, she pulled out the brush and a portable sterilizer and said, “This is an in-flight toothbrush the airline handed out.”
“Don’t people brush their teeth on planes? I thought it was too wasteful to use it once and throw it away,” Hyeri said. “So I use it a few more times. Even if it’s disposable, I carry it and reuse it several times,” she admitted, revealing a practical streak.
She added, “I put the toothbrush in a sterilizer like this and carry it with me,” noting that “one charge lasts a long time, so it’s very convenient.”
In August 2022, Hyeri purchased an aging multi-family home in Samseong-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, under her family corporation EMPO for 7.75 billion KRW (approximately $5.81 million). She demolished the previous structure and rebuilt it as a building with two basement levels and six floors above ground. Including a separate property in Yeoksam-dong, she now owns two buildings in total.
