[The Public = Reporter Kim Mi-hee] Lotte Department Store is launching a children’s festival, Kids Art Station (KiAS), at Jamsil Lotte Town.
Debuting this year, Kids Art Station is a complete reinvention of Lotte Department Store’s Children’s Art Contest — a fixture of the retail calendar for more than 40 years.
The festival will run on World Park, the oversized outdoor stage in Lotte Town, from May 1 through May 17. Spread across roughly 800 pyeong (about 28,470 sq ft), the space will host hands-on art activities designed for parents and children to enjoy together during Family Month.
As the only department store in Korea partnering exclusively with Disney for this program, Lotte will stage immersive experiences tied to May’s Star Wars release themed around The Mandalorian and Grogu. Children will face three creative missions: draw inside a Millennium Falcon maze to “brighten the galaxy,” customize Grogu’s exploration suit and help decorate a large wall, plus a final art challenge. Visitors who complete the ultimate mission will receive Star Wars Day commemorative goods, including a Star Wars keycap keyring.
Lotte will also broaden the art experience into the culinary realm with a first-for-Korean-retail gourmet collaboration with The Cheesecake Factory.
At the center of the Kids Art Station plaza, the company will install a 10-meter-tall Grogu sculpture as a special photo zone. The event will feature Star Wars–themed interactive games, a Star Wars x LEGO collaboration showroom, and a fan-collection exhibit showcasing rare collectibles.
Mini versions of Kids Art Station will be held at Lotte Department Store Incheon and at Lotte Premium Outlets Gimhae and Icheon from May 1 to May 5.
