Reopening of Uiwang Geumcheoncheon Park Golf Course: What Improvements Can You Expect?
Daniel Kim Views

Uiwang’s Geumcheoncheon Park Golf Course will reopen on the 21st after comprehensive safety and facility upgrades.
On the 18th, the city said it has made significant improvements to the course’s safety features, playability and drainage ahead of the reopening.
The course opened last September with a nine-hole layout as part of an effort to expand community sports. Set amid nearby green space, it offered an inviting setting where anyone could try park golf and quickly drew strong support from residents.
After opening, the city ran a three-month pilot program to assess demand and identify needed upgrades. It closed for the winter in December and used that time to make improvements based on user feedback and complaints.
A city official said safety fences were reinforced to improve user safety, and hole difficulty was adjusted to create a more welcoming environment for beginners and casual players. The official added that drainage was upgraded in areas that often collected water, so the course remains pleasant to use even after heavy rain.
Mayor Kim Seong-je said he expects the improvements will allow residents to use the Geumcheoncheon Park Golf Course safely and comfortably, and pledged the city will continue maintaining community sports facilities so everyone can enjoy healthy leisure activities.
