[Herald Economy = Reporter Kim Bo-young] Daiso, the fixed-price lifestyle store, is making waves after dropping T-shirts from original K-fashion label Basic House for just 5,000 KRW (about $3.75).
On March 25, Daiso rolled out Basic House’s new spring line, “Basic House Plus (BASIC HOUSE PLUS+),” across stores nationwide.
Basic House is known for affordable prices and reliable quality. Its 100% cotton round short-sleeve T-shirt has sold tens of millions of units and remains a signature steady seller.
The T-shirts Daiso is offering are 100% cotton and come in four styles: relaxed fit, layered fit, regular fit, and crop fit.
The relaxed fit uses a sturdy 16-count cotton and comes in six colors—gray, white, black, light beige, mint, and navy. The layered fit is made from lightweight 30-count cotton and features a longer length ideal for layering. The women’s crop fit uses 20-count cotton for a soft hand and a trendy silhouette.

Online reaction has been largely positive. Comments include: “Wasn’t this our summer uniform at one point? The stitching was so sturdy,” “Daiso really sells everything,” “I’ll buy one to wear to the gym,” and “Nice and clean for layering under outfits.”
Daiso’s apparel business has been growing fast on an ultra-low-price strategy. The company reported apparel sales rose about 140% year over year last month, after increasing about 180% in January—marking two consecutive months of triple-digit growth.
The range of items has also expanded. What was about 100 clothing items in 2022 grew to roughly 700 by the end of last year, and the company currently sells more than 600 styles.
Daiso plans to continue expanding its apparel lineup. The company said it will offer a wider variety of clothing—not just seasonal pieces but also items for spring and fall—to meet consumer demand.
