[Digital Today AI Reporter] Spotify is rolling out a podcast clip feature that lets users clip and share specific portions of podcast episodes, making it easier to share and amplify content.
On the 25th (local time), tech outlet TechCrunch reported that Spotify will launch the feature globally on its mobile app, allowing users to clip and share portions of podcast audio.
Users tap the scissors icon on the Now Playing screen to select and trim a segment, preview it, and then share. Sharing options include full episode links, chapters, specific timestamps, and the newly added clip format.
The launch comes as executives at major tech and AI companies increasingly choose podcasts over traditional media interviews. Clips let listeners quickly hear key remarks without sitting through a long interview, and because more major announcements now surface on podcasts, the feature could speed the spread of information.
Spotify said its Chapters feature, introduced earlier this year, has gained traction: users save or add chapters to playlists more than 2 million times each month. The company said the new clip tool can highlight compelling moments and serve as a marketing tool to drive listeners to full episodes.
Saved clips appear in users’ Spotify libraries and can be added to podcast playlists. Spotify will roll the feature out gradually on mobile to both free and Premium users, and it plans to expand support to more shows over time.
