[SPOTV News=Reporter Jung Hye-won] Cats’ Eye, the new girl group, won New Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards (AMAs).
On May 25 (local time), Cats’ Eye took home the New Artist of the Year award at the AMAs — one of the U.S.’s three major popular-music ceremonies — held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
After accepting the award, the group thanked their supporters, saying, “We’re so grateful to our fans. We also want to thank HYBE and Geffen Records — and BTS, who are here with us — for inspiring us to share our culture with the world.”
Yoon Chae, the group’s sole Korean member, added emotionally, “I’m so thankful to be able to share this moment with my bandmates.”
Cats’ Eye was formed through the audition project The Debut: Dream Academy and is a joint girl group between HYBE and U.S. label Geffen Records.
They have already shown uncharacteristic chart power for a newcomer on the U.S. Billboard charts and were nominated in February at the 68th Grammy Awards for Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
