A wedding in Weinan, Shaanxi Province, China, went viral after guests continued the reception even as heavy rain flooded the venue. Locals regarded the moment positively and the festive atmosphere carried on.

On the 25th (local time), the online outlet Bastille Post reported that a guest identified only as Wang, attending a friend’s wedding in Heitzhen, Hanyang County, in Weinan, was sitting and waiting for the meal after the greeting ceremony when a sudden downpour began.

The reception was held outdoors under a tent set up in the couple’s front yard. Because the site was on a gentle slope and lacked drainage, the rainwater quickly rose to ankle height.

Despite the conditions, guests remained composed. With service delayed, they started on the fruit already on the tables, and servers waded through water to bring dishes — yet no one left.

Guests sat with their feet in the water, chatting and eating for hours, staying past 3 p.m. Elders accepted the situation calmly, while younger attendees described it as an unusual, even entertaining, experience.

When the meal ended, guests crossed through the water to leave as the rain continued. Wang referenced the folk belief that \”rain brings wealth,\” saying the reception took on a meaningful, positive tone.

People who saw the video on social media reacted with amusement, likening the scene to traditional banquets where food appears to flow with the water.
