Though still outside the mainstream, Flowergam has established a strong foothold in South Korea’s subculture scene, drawing more than 200,000 YouTube subscribers.

A former professional gamer in Japan, she has earned recognition for her deep knowledge of gaming culture, her facility in shifting between real-life and virtual personae, and her vocal performances on original tracks such as \”Flowers Blooming in the Sky,\” \”Fine.,\” \”Love Cupid,\” \”Moon Rabbit,\” and \”Dreaming Boat.\”

“I’m truly happy because I’ve broadened the scope of my activities. I want to be a representative artist who bridges the real and virtual worlds.”

Those were the reflections of vocal creator Flowergam after a large-scale live performance that reinforced her identity as a hybrid artist working across both physical and virtual platforms.

News Culture interviewed Flowergam shortly after her \”Flowergam Special Live Stage\” at Illustar Fes 11 on May 24 at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 2 in Ilsan, Goyang.

The concert followed her surprise appearance at PlayX4 2026 and underscored why she is regarded as a communicator who blurs the line between real-world performance and virtual entertainment.

Her set balanced anime and subculture favorites—\”Butter-Fly,\” \”World Is Mine,\” \”Enma,\” \”Banquet Song,\” and \”Echo Mountain Ballad\”—with her original \”Love Cupid.\” The performance showcased a smooth interplay between her virtual strengths and her presence onstage.

Facing a large in-person crowd made a strong impression.

“I was surprised and thrilled to see so many people here,” she said. “I’ve done about ten fan meetups before, but this one felt different.”

Flowergam said she moved beyond the virtual arena to reveal more dimensions of her artistry to audiences who don’t encounter her only through a screen.

“I wanted to show more than gaming content,” she said. “I wanted people to hear my music and see different sides of me. That pushed me into real-world broadcasting as well as virtual-artist activities.”

Seven years of consistent work as a streamer and creator laid the groundwork for that dual identity.

This year marked a turning point after she signed with management company ILLIO. Despite a demanding schedule that can be physically taxing, she said her passion for engaging with fans keeps her focused and professional.

“I’ve enjoyed connecting with fans for seven years,” she said. “This year has been especially busy since I signed with ILLIO. Managing multiple projects is physically hard, but I feel fulfilled because I’m working purposefully and methodically.”

Her hybrid approach aligns with a rapidly expanding subculture market, where the boundary between virtual and real-world creators is increasingly porous.

After years spent shaping her identity and building an emotional rapport with fans, she sees those industry shifts as openings for further growth.

“Even today, many cosplayers and virtual artists hosted fan events,” she said. “If these opportunities keep growing, artists will have bigger stages to express themselves and more ways to connect with fans and show different sides of their personalities.”

The successful large-scale show also bolstered her confidence.

“This year has been more special and more ambitious than any of the previous seven,” she said. “I’m glad to see our efforts starting to pay off.”

She outlined her aspirations for the years ahead.

“I want to keep growing as an artist through more diverse forms of communication,” she said. “With large-scale fan events and activities that bridge virtual and real spaces, I hope to become one of this generation’s defining hybrid artists.”

Illustar Fes 11, where Flowergam performed, concluded May 24 at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 2 in Goyang to enthusiastic crowds.
