33 lbs in 35 Days: Korean Star Park Ji-hoon’s Extreme Diet Reveal

Daniel Kim Views

Singer-actor Park Ji‑hoon opened up about the brutal realities of extreme dieting and the constant pressure of managing his weight.

On the 15th, Park appeared on the YouTube channel ‘차린 건 쥐뿔도 없지만’ and shared candid, off-the-cuff conversation with host Lee Young-ji.

Lee teased him about his slightly fuller look, laughing, “You seem to be eating well lately. What’s been so good?”

Earlier, Park — who played Danjong in the film The Man Who Lives with the King — revealed he dropped roughly 33 lb (15 kg) by eating only one apple a day for 35 days to fully inhabit the role, a story that captured headlines.

When Lee quipped, “What happened? Did you gain the weight back?” Park laughed and said, “I’m healthy.” He described his body as having “rubber-band weight,” explaining, “I have a big appetite — if I don’t eat, I slim down quickly; when I eat, I gain right away. Right now, I’m cutting weight again.”

He also admitted he’s wary of medical weight-loss aids. Naming recent obesity drugs like Wegovy and Mounjaro, Park said, “I’m too scared to try them. The idea of losing weight that fast really worried me.” Lee agreed, saying she wouldn’t try them either.

He got candid about his career, too. When Lee asked if he felt he’d succeeded both as a singer and an actor, Park replied, “No — I don’t think I’m that kind of person,” and added that he dislikes the arrogant version of himself.

“Even in interviews I feel like I’m showing a polished version of myself instead of the real me,” he continued. “I spend a lot of time thinking about the kind of actor I truly want to be and what I want to express. I haven’t found the answer yet.”
