[TVDaily reporter Kim Ji-ha] Singer Psy is reaffirming his standing as an original K-pop icon through new global content.
CNN International will debut a new documentary series, “K-Everything,” on the 9th (Korea Standard Time). The four-part series traces the influence and origins of Korean content that has helped shape global culture. Actor Daniel Dae Kim serves as host, guiding viewers through K-pop, television dramas, food, beauty and other facets of contemporary Korean life. Psy appears in the K-pop episode. In a conversation with Daniel Dae Kim, he outlines his perspective on the forces behind K-pop’s rise — from the expansion of global fandom to shifts in the industry’s structure. A trailer released on the 6th captures the electric atmosphere of his live-show brand 흠뻑쇼 (Heumbok Show) and his candid doubts. When asked about life after “Gangnam Style,” Psy said, “As a performer, it’s eternal. But as a songwriter, dreams and nightmares coexist. I always wonder whether I can top that song.” The series premieres at 9 p.m. on the 9th on CNN International and will stream across CNN’s official platforms. In South Korea it will be available on Coupang Play, and in select international markets it will also stream on HBO Max. [TVDaily reporter Kim Ji-ha news@tvdaily.co.kr/Photo=CNN International] |
