[MyDaily = Reporter Choi Byung-jin] Son Heung-min (LAFC) accepts responsibility for his scoreless start to the season.
LAFC have slid into a slump, dropping four straight official matches — a run that has derailed their push for a third consecutive MLS title in 2026. In league play they’ve fallen to 7th, posting a 6-3-5 record for 21 points.
Criticism has mounted over how head coach Mark Dos Santos is deploying Son. To reduce dependence on the Son–Denis Bouanga partnership that produced so much last season, Dos Santos has tested several tactical adjustments.
One notable tweak moved Son into an attacking midfield role. That has boosted his creativity — he leads MLS with nine assists — but he remains scoreless in league competition.
As fan criticism escalated, Bouanga also voiced his frustration. “It’s tough for Son and me. I should be out on the wing and Son should play up front. Every time I get the ball I look for him, but it’s hard to reproduce last year’s results,” he said.
Questions about Son’s finishing have grown, but Son says he holds himself accountable rather than blaming others.

On the 22nd, global outlet Goal.com reported Son insisted his drought isn’t the coach’s fault. “I don’t think it’s the coach’s fault. It’s my fault,” he said. “There have been unlucky moments and some excellent saves from opposing goalkeepers. It’s not someone else’s fault.”
He added he’s not worried. “I’ve scored plenty of goals before. That ability won’t disappear,” he said, signaling confidence.
