Starbucks Korea has rolled out its Ube Basque Cheesecake to stores nationwide. The cake debuted as a limited offering at 100 locations on April 14 and, thanks to strong customer response, will be available at all stores starting April 24.
The Ube Basque Cheesecake features ube, a purple yam beloved across Southeast Asia. Ube brings a gentle sweetness, toasty nutty notes, and a vivid purple hue — a trendy ingredient that’s been popping up in food and drinks among Millennials and Gen Z around the world.
This take on Basque cheesecake highlights ube’s unique flavor in a silky, rich cake and showcases a natural purple color for distinct taste and visual appeal. It contains no artificial coloring.
During the 100-store trial run, customers praised its creamy texture and clean, not-too-sweet finish; many said even people who usually skip desserts could enjoy it without feeling weighed down.
Hyun-jung Choi, head of food and beverage development at Starbucks Korea, said, “Reflecting global dessert trends, the Ube Basque Cheesecake has received a strong customer response since its launch, so we expanded availability to all stores.”
Since 1971, Starbucks has ethically sourced and roasted Arabica coffee beans and operates stores in numerous countries. Guided by strict quality standards and corporate ethics, the company delivers the signature Starbucks experience to customers.
