TodayKorea = Reporter Kim Jun-hyuk | Choi Tae-won, chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, met with the newly appointed UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) Administrator and called for cooperation on social value.
The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry said Choi met Alexander De Croo at the KCCI headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, on May 22.
UNDP is the United Nations agency responsible for designing and managing projects that support the economic and social development of developing countries.
Choi said regional decline, widening inequality and the climate crisis are complex global challenges that governments or international organizations alone cannot solve. He added that he hopes the KCCI’s capacity for action, combined with UNDP’s global network and a shared language of social value, will produce tangible change.
He also urged co-organizing global sessions aligned with UNDP strategy to build broader consensus.
In response, Administrator De Croo said public–private cooperation is essential in key areas such as AI and digital transformation, climate response, governance and sustainable finance. He urged South Korean companies, including SK, to take a more active interest in UNDP’s public–private partnership activities.
Meanwhile, the Social Value Festa brings together businesses, governments, international organizations and civil society to pursue solutions to social problems and promote sustainable growth.
