Retailers are courting family shoppers in May
Hyundai Department Store is rolling out a big Toy Story–themed campaign for Family Month in May. The retailer says it aims to draw more families into its stores and keep them there longer with connected, hands-on experiences across its nationwide locations.
On the 6th, Hyundai Department Store announced that, in partnership with The Walt Disney Company Korea, it will run \”Share the Happiness,\” a Toy Story–themed event at all Hyundai Department Store and Hyundai Outlet locations from May 1 through June 21.
During the event, stores will be dressed up with Toy Story character displays and host interactive activities like face painting and balloon giveaways. At the Trade Center location, a 7.6-meter (25-foot) photo zone will be installed, and experiential spaces such as a \”shadow cabinet\” that mimics character movements will be set up.
Pop-up stores will open in more than 300 locations on a staggered schedule, starting at Songdo and including the Trade Center, Pangyo, and The Hyundai Seoul. On Children’s Day (May 5), each store will stage special events aimed at families.
Hyundai will also run a visit-verification promotion and a fan art contest. Customers who post photo reviews can win travel vouchers worth up to 100,000–500,000 KRW (approximately $75–$375) and other prizes, while fan art entrants will receive discount coupons and gift certificates.
\”We strengthened family-friendly content by using Toy Story, a franchise loved across generations,\” a Hyundai Department Store spokesperson said. \”We plan to keep expanding customer experiences through distinctive, hands-on events.\”
