Trade, Industry and Energy Minister Kim Jung-kwan said on the 19th that he felt “a desperate, regretful sense” — if everyone knows the harm a strike would cause yet our society cannot resolve it, what will we be able to accomplish going forward?
At a plenary meeting of the National Assembly’s Industry, Trade, Energy, SMEs and Startups Committee, Kim said the reality is that all citizens are concerned about the fallout a strike at Samsung Electronics could bring.
He said he has been cautious about his remarks potentially affecting the ongoing second round of post-adjustment, but he was clear that the union’s planned strike, scheduled from the 21st through the 7th of next month, must be prevented.
Kim added that he has followed the mediation since yesterday with extreme care and “in a spirit of earnest prayer,” and he expressed a sincere hope for an outcome that the nation wants.
