On the 18th at 6 p.m., Taeyong released his first solo full-length album, WYLD, across streaming platforms. It’s his first record since completing military service, and it opens a broader musical world shaped by a firmer inner core and deeper emotional range.
The album’s title track, “WYLD,” is a hip-hop cut inspired by the instinctive movements of wild animals. It stacks hard-hitting bass, heavy rhythmic percussion and experimental sonic elements to create a precise, three-dimensional immersion that feels almost feral.
On “WYLD,” Taeyong melts the artist he’s spent time refining into raw, animalistic energy. From the opening — “Now watch me move baby / Break the frame once more” — he announces he’s shattering his old boundaries. With lines like “From the jungle to the throne,” he projects the confidence and ambition to keep pushing toward his goals.
That rough energy bursts through repeated cries — “Like animal,” “Wild Yelling Loud just” — and the chant of the “Dancing in the wild” chorus. At one point Taeyong sings, “I won’t stop; I’ll run until I get there,” a vow to reveal himself more freely and fiercely.
The music video sensorially channels the instincts buried in the human psyche through Taeyong’s performance, energy and visuals. It captures moments when instinct and control collide, producing a striking, high-fashion aesthetic that feels like a couture film.
Taeyong co-produced every track on WYLD. The album contains ten songs in total: the title track plus “Storm,” “Hypnotic,” “I’m a Dancing Cactus,” “Mermaid,” “404 Euphoria,” “Skiii,” “Hot,” “Feeling Myself,” and “Run.”
