[MyDaily = Reporter Kim Kyung-hyun] It was a letdown. Woo-seok Go (Triple-A, Detroit Tigers organization) missed a shot at a major-league call-up. With Detroit shorthanded by injuries, a promotion seemed likely. Instead, the Tigers recalled a former Samsung Lions pitcher.
On the 16th (Korean time), Detroit reinstated right-hander Connor Seabold from the injured list to the big-league roster, effective the 15th. The club optioned right-hander Ricky Vanasco to Triple-A in a corresponding move.
Seabold signed with the Philadelphia Phillies as the 83rd overall pick in the third round of the 2017 draft. He made his MLB debut with Boston in 2021, throwing three innings and allowing two runs in one appearance. Through 2023, he bounced between the majors and minors.

He turned his sights to Korea in 2024. Wearing a Samsung uniform, Seabold went 11-6 with a 3.43 ERA across 28 appearances. A late-season injury kept him off the postseason roster — he had planned to return for the Korean Series but ultimately didn’t make the trip. Samsung fell to the KIA Tigers, 4 games to 1, in the Korean Series.
Back in the U.S., Seabold spent time with the Tampa Bay Rays and Atlanta Braves before signing with Detroit this season. He made the Opening Day roster and posted a 1-0 record with a 4.09 ERA in eight games. He landed on the injured list in late April with a left-ankle sprain and has now returned after rehabbing.
Detroit’s pitching staff remains severely depleted. The club has several pitchers rehabbing, including ace Tarik Skubal, Justin Verlander, Reese Olson, Casey Mize, Troy Melton, Jackson Jobe and Bailey Horn.

Go has been building momentum. He began the season in Triple-A but stumbled in his first two outings, allowing four runs (three earned) in 1 1/3 innings. Detroit sent him down to Double-A, where he rebounded over eight appearances: two saves and a 0.66 ERA. He returned to Triple-A on the 9th, tossing three scoreless innings that day and following it with two more scoreless frames on the 13th. Despite that stretch, Detroit opted to pass on promoting him this time.
Go is set to become a free agent after this season, and reports say he’s mounting a final, all-out push to secure his place.
