E-Land World’s global sports brand New Balance is opening a pop-up on the Han River where runners can rent and test shoes and apparel.
On the 10th, New Balance announced it will run a special experiential pop-up, the New Balance Yeouido Run Hub, at the I-Cruise dock in Yeouido Hangang Park, Seoul, from the 9th through the 14th of next month. The Yeouido Run Hub will offer visitors premium running apparel and shoe rental services. Visitors can try on New Balance’s \”Gray Day Special Edition\” running shoes and performance apparel on-site, then hit the riverside course to feel the cushioning and fit for themselves.
New Balance is positioning the Han River Run Hub as a community gathering spot for runners. Besides the rental program, the space features a riverside lounge and curated running-route guides. A New Balance representative said, \”We designed the space so runners who visit the Han River can directly experience the brand’s technology and running culture.\”
As running culture spreads across South Korea, retailers and food brands are experimenting with location-based marketing in runner-heavy neighborhoods. BGF Retail, which operates convenience chain CU, remodeled several stores near the Han River under a \”running station\” concept. Those locations added unmanned lockers for storing post-run gear and dedicated corners for running products. G&Food, the operator of Goobne Chicken, organized a marathon event in Busan called \”Goobne Oven Run – Busan,\” combining brand experience with community running.
