Lee Man-gi stopped by a Jindo green onion farm run by a farmer in his 30s and sampled a variety of local dishes.
On the 9th, KBS1’s ‘A Walk Around the Neighborhood’ spotlighted a young farmer who returned to Jindo to farm and his green onion operation.
He sampled the farm’s kimchi, praising its crisp texture and calling it refreshing and delicious.
Kwak Geu-ru, a green onion farmer with 10 years of experience, inherited his father’s 30-year farming operation. He not only grows crops but also runs a green onion kimchi factory and keeps experimenting with new ventures.
He even revealed the special stock made exclusively for green onion kimchi. He insists on using only Jindo-grown ingredients for the stock — from garlic to goji berries.
He also shared stories about longtime customers he affectionately calls \”family\” — they’ve been coming for 10 years. They’re more than customers; they help brainstorm menu ideas.
His confident new creation is green onion syrup, and tasters say its sweetness works better than expected. He said he hopes to open a restaurant one day that serves dishes crafted from Jindo ingredients and the stories behind them.
