The 96th Namwon Chunhyang Festival drew a crowd and gave local tourism a welcome boost with a show-stopping fireworks display.
The fireworks along the Yocheon River on the night of the 1st lasted about 15 minutes and sent the festival’s energy soaring. Billed as “Light of Love, Namwon’s Dream,” the multimedia production paired music and lasers with large-scale pyrotechnics, creating an evening spectacle that kept visitors lingering longer into the night.
As the weekend approached, Seungwolgyo Bridge and the area around Gwanghallu Garden filled with spectators eager to catch the show.
Remarkably, organizers wrapped up the event without any safety incidents despite the large turnout. They deployed safety personnel across the site and coordinated closely with relevant agencies to manage the crowds—steps that reflect a growing emphasis on safety at local festivals.
Namwon City will continue programming through closing day, including the Love Sharing Run on the 2nd.
The festival runs through the 6th around Gwanghallu Garden and along the Yocheon, expanding as an experiential tourism attraction that blends traditional offerings with contemporary performances.
