[MyDaily = Reporter Shim Jae-hee] It was a spectacular match.
Thierry Henry, 49, the Arsenal legend who also starred for Barcelona and the France national team, heaped praise on the April 29 showdown at Paris’ Parc des Princes between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Bayern Munich. After the nine-goal thriller, Henry called the 2025–26 UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg one of the greatest matches he’s ever seen.
Speaking at a Samsung TV event in London on April 30, Henry described the game as astonishing. “You can’t really analyze a match like that,” he said. “It was simply breathtaking. The players delivered pure joy and near-perfect total football, and both managers deserve credit for how they shaped the contest.”
He singled out Bayern’s Michael Olise for special praise. “I really like Olise. He’s excellent on the ball, great at beating defenders, and his off-the-ball movement is top class,” Henry said. Olise tormented PSG’s flank and found the net in the game.
In the contest Henry labeled the best ever, home side PSG prevailed 5–4 in a nine-goal classic. Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored twice apiece, and João Neves added another.

Bayern fought back despite the defeat and helped produce a classic. Harry Kane opened the scoring in the 17th minute, and Olise leveled in the 41st to make it 2–2. Dembélé then struck in first-half stoppage time to give PSG a 3–2 lead. Bayern conceded again early in the second half and fell behind 2–5 before Dayot Upamecano and Luis Díaz pulled two goals back, ultimately leaving Bayern to accept a 4–5 loss.
The tie is far from decided. The second leg will settle who advances to the final. The return match is scheduled for May 7 at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany. PSG can reach the final with a draw; Bayern must win at home to stage a comeback.
Meanwhile, the highly anticipated clash between Korean stars didn’t happen in the first leg. PSG’s Lee Kang-in and Bayern’s Kim Min-jae were both absent. All eyes will be on whether the pair return for the second leg.
