Experience Unforgettable Children’s Day Celebrations in Daegu: A Guide to Events and Activities

The Our Image Preservation Association (President Hwang Munsu) will host a Children’s Day celebration titled “Mom, Please Show Me a World Like This!” at the Duryu Park multipurpose athletic field beginning at 1 p.m. on the 3rd. Sponsored by the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education, Cafe Daegu Mom, and the Yona Special Education Research Association, the event will offer interactive booths, nostalgic games, and a photo zone.

At 1:30 p.m., attendees can enjoy two original children’s musicals—Sungi the Picky Eater and My Dad Is the Best!—and participate in physical wellness activities. Sungi the Picky Eater follows a monkey who insists on eating only bananas and uses that story to encourage a balanced diet. The children of the Bangawoyo musical troupe will perform My Dad Is the Best!, a piece about parents who stand by Dong-jin despite his mistakes, underscoring the importance of family love.

In side events, fairy-tale characters—including the Grape Queen, the Royal Guard, and the Milky Way Fairy—will appear to give children memories they’ll cherish for a lifetime. Hwang Munsu said, “For more than 30 years, we have held festivals for Daegu residents at Lunar New Year, Children’s Day, Chuseok, and Christmas. We want to sow dreams and protect children’s innocence.”
