[Spotv News = Reporter Park Dae-hyun] Several top Serie A clubs are targeting 30-year-old Kim Min-jae of Bayern Munich as the summer transfer window approaches.

Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio told his podcast Café Di Marzio on the 30th (Korean time) that multiple Serie A heavyweights are monitoring players at elite European clubs—such as Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich—who have struggled to secure regular minutes.

With roughly two months until the market opens, Serie A decision-makers have already started their behind-the-scenes planning.

Di Marzio says the overarching theme this summer is “comebacks.”

Clubs are prioritizing former stars whose playing time has been inconsistent at top clubs, looking to add proven talent to their squads.

Notizie Inter, which covers Inter Milan, wrote on the 30th that one of the names attracting the most attention is the Korean center back currently at Bayern, Kim Min-jae, and that talk of a Serie A return this summer is gaining steam.

Kim, who previously proved his quality in Italy, now faces stiff competition at Bayern. Jonathan Tah and Dayot Upamecano have established themselves in the starting lineup, limiting Kim’s opportunities. Notizie Inter noted that Upamecano’s recent contract extension through 2030 has further narrowed Kim’s path to regular playing time.

Di Marzio added that among players who haven’t been starting regularly this season, Kim stands out, and that many Italian clubs want him. Inter Milan and Juventus are the most frequently mentioned suitors. He said it will be worth watching whether those two giants move in the coming months to bring the Korean defender back to Italy.

Inter Milan currently leads the league behind a potent attack.

The team has scored 80 goals, well ahead of second-place Como 1907’s 59 — a gap of 21 goals.

But Inter’s defensive record has lagged.

The club has conceded 31 goals, leaving them fifth in that category, and they have given up nine goals in their last five matches, which has increased calls locally to reinforce the back line.

Despite conceding multiple goals in recent fixtures — a 5-2 win over AS Roma on the 5th, a 4-3 victory against Como on the 12th, and a 2-2 draw with Torino on the 26th — Inter’s offensive firepower has often masked defensive vulnerabilities.

Notizie Inter also suggested that Christian Chivu, the former defender who has been coaching Inter since last year, is likely to seriously consider signing Kim Min-jae. The report highlighted Kim’s key role in Napoli’s 2022–23 Scudetto under Luciano Spalletti and noted that Bayern paid a reported €58 million transfer fee (approximately 100.2 billion KRW / approximately $75.15 million; €58 million ≈ $62.06 million) to acquire him.

A return to Serie A for Kim could be a strategically significant move for Inter. The Nerazzurri need defensive reinforcements to remain competitive domestically and in Europe, and if talks progress, Kim could slot into Chivu’s lineup as a starter and help stabilize the backline. Notizie Inter argued that the \”Korean Monster,\” who has not secured an undisputed starting role at Europe’s very top clubs, could reclaim his former stature under Chivu.
