[Sports Seoul | Reporter Yoon Dong-eon] BTS kicked off their North American tour with an electrifying performance.
On the 29th, BigHit Music said the Arirang world tour shows at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium on the 25th, 26th and 28th drew about 190,000 fans.
Across the three nights, BTS stoked the crowd with a run of hits, including “Hooligan” from their fifth studio album ARIRANG, alongside “MIC Drop” and “FAKE LOVE.”
During a performance of “Body to Body,” the group wove in a passage of the Korean folk song “Arirang,” and the audience sang along, underscoring the fervent response.
The members said, “We were nervous because this was the first show of our North American tour, but thanks to you, all those nerves disappeared. You gave us the best possible start, and we’re even more excited for the remaining shows.”
Meanwhile, BTS are set to play Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, Texas, on the 2nd and 3rd — becoming the first Korean artists to headline the venue. The North American leg spans 12 cities, from Mexico City to Stanford and Las Vegas, for a total of 31 shows; every date has sold out. hellboy321@sportsseoul.com
