On the 2nd, the Korea Expressway Corporation’s Gangwon Headquarters announced it had signed an agreement with the Gangwon Tourism Foundation and the Gangwon Rest-Stop Facilities Association to revitalize tourism in Gangwon Province and promote shared development.
Under the pact, the Expressway Corporation’s Gangwon Headquarters will leverage promotional infrastructure at highway rest stops to showcase the region and attract more visitors.
The Gangwon Tourism Foundation will develop local tourism content and lead rest-stop–based marketing efforts, including the creation of promotional materials.
The Gangwon Rest-Stop Facilities Association will boost visitor convenience by providing on-site tourism information infrastructure and operating related services at rest stops.
Together, the partners plan to transform highway rest stops from simple places to stretch your legs into full-fledged tourism hubs.
Visitors to Gangwon can expect distinctive, curated experiences along with a variety of helpful information and content.
Gang Jong-ho, head of the Korea Expressway Corporation’s Gangwon Headquarters, said the agreement offers a chance for rest stops to evolve into multifunctional hubs where local culture comes alive. \”We will continue to pursue a range of collaborative projects so rest stops become enjoyable places that mark the beginning and end of trips to Gangwon and provide real benefits to the local economy,\” he added.
