[Seocheon] Mark your calendars: Seocheon County is hosting the 20th Seocheon Wild Flounder & Sea Bream Festival around Maryangjin Port from May 1 through May 17.
The festival celebrates Seocheon’s signature seafood—wild-caught flounder and sea bream—while encouraging seafood consumption and giving a boost to local tourism.
The festivities kick off at 11 a.m. on May 1 with an opening ceremony on a special stage at the festival site, followed by a full slate of programming.
Against the backdrop of Seocheon’s pristine coastline, visitors can dive into a variety of hands-on activities.
Highlights include a barehand flounder-catching experience and boat fishing, plus family-friendly fun like an Instagram-ready photo challenge with the Maryangjin Port lighthouse as your backdrop.
At the venue, a flounder and sea bream food market and specialty stalls will let attendees sample Seocheon’s freshest seafood and local eats all in one spot.
County officials expect the festival to attract food-focused travelers and help revitalize the local economy.
Acting County Mayor Yoo Jae-young said, “We hope this festival gives visitors a memorable chance to experience Seocheon’s sea and seafood up close. We’ll do our best in planning and running the festival so Maryangjin Port becomes a place people want to visit again.”
