Incheon Culture & Arts Center is recruiting new members for its municipal children’s choir training program.
Applicants must live in Incheon or attend an Incheon-area elementary school and be in grades 2 through 6. Up to 21 children will be selected.
On April 26, the center said the municipal children’s choir serves as the city’s cultural envoy, conveying moving messages through the clear voices of young singers.
Members of the training program receive professional vocal and choreography instruction every Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the center’s multipurpose cultural space.
They also attend an annual music camp. Those later promoted to the official performance troupe may receive support such as performance attire and scholarships.
Applications will be accepted from May 17 through 21. Applicants may apply in person at the Incheon Children’s Choir office or submit materials by email.
Auditions and interviews are scheduled for May 30. For the audition, applicants must perform one memorized piece and complete a pitch test.
A parent-accompanied interview will follow. Final results will be posted on the Incheon Culture & Arts Center website on June 4.
“This program offers children who love music a chance to develop artistic sensitivity through choral singing and to experience life in a harmonious community,” a choir official said. “We hope many children will show interest and apply.”
This recruitment provides children an opportunity to develop and showcase their musical potential.
