[MyDaily = Reporter Noh Chan-hyuk] Real Madrid have decided to retain Aurélien Tchouaméni, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reported on April 24 (KST) that Real have no intention of selling Tchouaméni this summer.
Manchester United have made a midfield rebuild their priority this window. The club confirmed they would part ways with Casemiro, and with Manuel Ugarte potentially on the move, United turned their attention to Tchouaméni.
The French international is a prototypical holding midfielder: powerful, defensively sound, strong in one-on-one duels and tackles, and tactically versatile enough to fill several roles in central midfield.

Tchouaméni joined Real in the 2022–23 season for €100 million (approximately $107 million; about 173 billion KRW (approximately $129.8 million)). He established himself as a starter from the outset and played a part in Real’s 2023–24 UEFA Champions League triumph. This season he has appeared in 51 matches, anchoring Madrid’s midfield.
That said, links to potential midfield signings such as Rodri (Manchester City) and Enzo Fernández (Chelsea) had intensified rumors about Tchouaméni’s future.
Manchester United attempted to exploit that opening. The Telegraph reported Tchouaméni sits high on United’s shortlist as a potential replacement for Casemiro.

Real, however, have opted to keep Tchouaméni. Romano said the midfielder is content at the club. While Manchester United regard him as one of the top defensive midfielders in the game, any transfer would be decided solely by Real.
With Tchouaméni effectively off the table, United will need to activate Plan B. They are expected to shift focus to other targets such as Elliott Anderson (Nottingham Forest), Carlos Baleba (Brighton), and Sandro Tonali (Newcastle).
