[TourKorea=Reporter Kim Dong-hwan] Looking for a fresh spring stroll? A new pedestrian hotspot stretching across the Namhan River waterfront is opening to visitors ahead of its official debut. The Siruseom Ecological Walking Bridge, which offers sweeping views of the Danyang Siruseom area, will be available on weekends only during a temporary preview and is expected to draw plenty of sightseers.
Danyang County, North Chungcheong Province, announced it will open the Siruseom Ecological Walking Bridge on weekends only from May 16 through June 28. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday.
The main bridge and other major structures are complete, though crews are still finishing the visitor center, the access deck, and some connecting facilities.

Because not all facilities can open at once, the county chose a limited-hours temporary opening to make sure visitors can enjoy the bridge safely.
Azalea Festival and spring peak season — officials act to meet visitor demand
The temporary opening lines up with the Sobaeksan Azalea Festival, the region’s signature spring event. Officials say this preview gives visitors a new spot to explore during the busy season.
The county also plans to use this period to detect any operational issues before the full opening, while handling the expected influx of tourists.
During the temporary opening, access will be limited to designated routes. The visitor center and sections still under construction will remain off-limits.
Safety staff will be on site, and managers will keep visitor paths clearly separated from work zones. The bridge and related facilities will be closed outside operating hours.
Official opening expected in early July; plans to grow waterfront stay-and-explore tourism
Remaining construction is scheduled to finish by the end of June. After safety inspections, officials expect an official opening in early July.
Once fully open, the county intends to expand waterfront amenities and overnight-stay tourism centered on the walking bridge in phases.
A county official said, \”Although delays to the entry facilities adjusted the opening schedule, we will focus on safety management and operational checks during this temporary opening. When we officially open, we aim to provide a more polished visitor experience.\”
Danyang County plans to incorporate visitor data and feedback gathered during the temporary opening to refine operations and develop the Siruseom area as an ecological and scenic tourism hub.
