[Sports Seoul | Reporter Yoon Dong-eon] Actor Song Joong-ki drew attention when he joined his wife, Katie Saunders, for their first official appearance together.
On April 22, Gaon Soloists shared several photos on their official social channels, writing, “We hope our melodies brought small comfort and joy.” They added their thanks to “Song Joong-ki, Katie Saunders, Kim So-hyun, and violist Shin Yun Huang” for helping create a radiant performance.
The photos show Song and Katie onstage for a staged reading. Seated side by side, they delivered the piece in measured tones, which heightened the audience’s engagement.
A separate video highlighted their narration. The couple served as narrators for the first half, reading the “Introduction and Royal March of the Lion” from Camille Saint-Saëns’s The Carnival of the Animals. When Katie spoke in English — “My dear son, grow up like a lion” — Song followed in Korean, giving the line added resonance.
They closed with a resonant message: “A lion acts proudly for its beliefs and for those it loves. Sometimes people mistake a lion’s power for what makes it strong. But loyalty, trust, and gentleness make the lion strong.”
Earlier, musical actress Kim So-hyun wrote on social media about meeting the couple, drawing attention with praise for Katie’s striking beauty.
Song married Katie Saunders in 2023; the couple has a son and a daughter. This was their first joint public appearance since the wedding, nearly three years later, and audience photos noted the pair’s polished presence. hellboy321@sportsseoul.com
