Ivy Lee’s Shocking Confession: How Noise Disturbances Forced Her to Move Homes

Television personality Lee Young-ja disclosed a harrowing episode from her past: persistent apartment noise made her home unlivable and ultimately forced her to move. She said that, as a celebrity, she felt unable to defend herself and remained silent — a confession that prompted widespread sympathy.

On the 20th, while appearing on tvN STORY’s ‘What’s the Point of Leaving It?’, Lee recalled the dispute she faced while living in Ilsan. \”If I moved even slightly, the downstairs neighbor would come up right away,\” she said. \”They even bought me slippers — even though I was already wearing some. It was absurd and deeply frustrating.\”

The situation did more than spark complaints; it took a real psychological toll. \”At one point I developed a neurosis,\” she said. \”I couldn’t walk down the middle of my own home — I kept my hand on the wall and sidled along.\” Her admission surprised viewers.

Moving around her own apartment became a source of fear. Eventually Lee invited colleagues Song Eun-yi and Kim Sook over so they could see the situation for themselves. She told them to walk with their hands on the wall; the moment they did, the doorbell rang — a detail that underscored how tense the dispute had become.

She said she tried to explain that the noise likely wasn’t coming from her unit, but that failed to resolve the issue, leaving her feeling powerless in the face of relentless complaints.

In the end she chose to leave the home she loved. \”Because I’m a celebrity, I didn’t want to make things worse, so I moved,\” she said. \”I simply couldn’t live there anymore.\” Her comment reflected the particular burden public figures face when under public scrutiny.

Guest Park Se-ri also sympathized, saying she currently deals with noise from her upstairs neighbor. \”Not every day, but sometimes I hear noise in the early morning,\” Park said. \”When it’s really bad, I’ve seriously thought about going upstairs to confront them.\” Her remarks illustrated how apartment noise can be an intense and unavoidable source of stress.
