[EPN NPinow reporter Seo Hye-bin] Actor Park Eun-tae opened his first performance in the musical ‘Swing Days — Codename A’ to strong praise.
At the opening night on the 16th at the Chungmu Art Center’s main theater, Park starred as Yoo Il-hyung and held the audience with a singular intensity. In a production inspired by the life of Dr. Yoo Il-hyung, he fully captivated viewers with layered acting and nuanced emotional work.
Building on the wide range and immersive performances he demonstrated in productions such as ‘Frankenstein’ and ‘Jekyll & Hyde,’ Park delivered a three-dimensional interpretation of the role. He vividly portrayed Yoo Il-hyung’s complicated emotional arc and inner turmoil, tracing the character’s psychological shift as he evolves into an independence activist with subtlety and precision.
Park’s powerful vocal performance especially heightened Yoo Il-hyung’s emotional moments onstage. As the Best Actor winner at the 10th Korean Musical Awards, he displayed his craft without reserve and sent shivers through the audience. He seamlessly connected the character’s conflicted feelings—torn between sorrow and resolve—through disciplined vocal control and expressive delivery.
Park said it was his first time participating in ‘Swing Days — Codename A,’ so he prepared with extra diligence. \”I’ll give my all in both song and acting on stage to leave the audience with a deep, lasting impression,\” he said.
His performance suggests the emergence of another defining role in his career and has raised expectations for the rest of the run. With this production, Park appears poised to deliver yet another electrifying experience for audiences.
‘Swing Days — Codename A’ will continue its run at the Chungmu Art Center’s main theater in Seoul through July 5, where Park Eun-tae’s commanding presence is expected to keep shining.
