In the People Power Party’s Gunwi County mayoral primary — a closely watched, two-person contest between the incumbent and a former county chief — incumbent Kim Jin-yeol clinched the party nomination.
On the 19th, Kim said, “This result is not a choice about me personally but the solemn will of Gunwi residents and party members to carry forward a larger future for Gunwi without wavering. I will accept that will with gravity and repay it with victory.”
He pledged, “Building on the changes of the past four years, I will add another four years to complete the foundation for Gunwi’s next 100 years.” He said his administration will pursue regional development, stronger agricultural competitiveness, improved living conditions, expanded welfare, and renewed emphasis on education and economic revitalization.
Unity was central to his general-election strategy. “To secure victory for the party and for local residents, I will run a campaign that is more inclusive and listens with humility,” Kim said. “We must move beyond primary competition and join forces to advance the region.”
Kim concluded, “I will prove my capability through action rather than words and through results rather than promises. I will build a larger, more dynamic Gunwi and a warmer community to show residents their choice was right.”
