[MyDaily = Reporter Kim Jong-guk] Fenerbahçe’s renewed push to re-sign Kim Min-jae is drawing attention.
Fenerbahçe has recently intensified its pursuit of Kim. Turkish outlets including Fanatik reported on the 16th that the club made an unexpected move to land him: Kim’s agent traveled to Istanbul after Fenerbahçe summoned him, signaling the club’s serious interest.
Amid swirling transfer speculation, German outlets such as Merkur reported on the 15th that Juventus has contacted Bayern Munich about signing Kim Min-jae, suggesting his time at Bayern could be nearing an end. The two clubs, however, remain far apart on terms: Bayern reportedly wants at least €30 million (about $32.1 million), while Juventus is said to be seeking lower figures for both the transfer fee and Kim’s salary.
German site Spox wrote that Bayern manager Vincent Kompany opposes Kim’s sale. Kim reportedly had two opportunities to leave Bayern in recent transfer windows, but Kompany blocked those moves, reducing the likelihood of a transfer.
Turkish outlets including SporArena reported on the 18th that Kim’s agent has arrived in Istanbul to negotiate. With the Süper Lig title race between Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray entering its final stretch, the Kim Min-jae rumors have sent shockwaves through the transfer market. Agent Oliveira Rita met with Fenerbahçe board member Torunoğulları. Kim is already a club legend — he appeared in 40 matches for Fenerbahçe in the 2021–22 season and served as the team’s defensive leader. The outlets noted that if Fenerbahçe wins the Süper Lig, the prize money would help the club finance the re-signing of players like Kim; the title race isn’t just about pride, it’s also about securing the funds needed to bring him back.
Fenerbahçe currently sits second in the Turkish Süper Lig this season with a record of 19 wins, 10 draws and 1 loss (67 points), trailing leaders Galatasaray (68 points) by one point. The club is chasing its first league title since the 2013–14 season, a 12-year wait.
