[Sports Today reporter Sangpil Lee] The LG Twins extended their winning streak to seven games.
LG pummeled the SSG Landers 9-1 at Seoul’s Jamsil Stadium on April 12 in a 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League home game.
The victory pushed LG to 9-4 and into first place, while SSG fell to 7-6 after dropping their fifth straight.
Starter Tolhurst tossed six scoreless innings, allowing four hits, striking out four and walking three to record his second win of the season. Offensively, Oh Ji-hwan had three hits and scored twice, and Park Hae-min finished with two hits, an RBI and a run.
SSG’s offense was quiet all night, and starter Veniziano exited after 4.1 innings, giving up five hits, striking out two, issuing three walks and allowing six runs (four earned) as the club failed to halt the skid.
In the bottom of the third, after Shin Min-jae drew a walk and Chun Sung-ho laid down a sacrifice bunt to put runners on first and second with one out, Moon Seong-ju delivered an RBI double. Austin followed with an RBI single to make it 2-0.
LG built on that in the fourth: Oh Ji-hwan doubled and Park Hae-min’s bunt moved a runner to third with one out, and Hong Chang-ki’s infield groundout produced a run. An error and a fielder’s choice then created a bases-loaded opportunity, and Chun Sung-ho’s groundball brought in another run to push the lead to 4-0.
The offense broke the game open in the fifth. Moon Bo-kyung drew a walk and Oh Ji-hwan singled to create a one-out, first-and-third situation, and Park Hae-min’s RBI single made it 5-0. A hit-by-pitch to Hong Chang-ki loaded the bases; an error accounted for two runs, and groundouts by Shin Min-jae and Chun Sung-ho produced two more, quickly extending the lead to 9-0.
With ample run support, Tolhurst shut down the SSG lineup through six innings and finished his outing.
With the game in hand, LG turned to its bullpen in the seventh to lock things down.
SSG finally got on the board in the top of the ninth: Ko Myung-jun’s double and Kim Sung-wook’s hit put runners at first and third with no outs, and Choi Ji-hoon’s sacrifice fly produced a run — but it was too little, too late. The contest ended as a 9-1 victory for LG.
