[Sports Today reporter Lee Sang-pil] The Samsung Lions completed a three-game sweep of the NC Dinos at home.
Samsung beat NC 9-3 on April 12 at Daegu Samsung Lions Park in a 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League game.
The win was Samsung’s third straight. The Lions improved to 8 wins, 1 tie and 4 losses, holding onto third place. NC dropped its sixth consecutive game and fell to 6-7.
Eduardo Diaz led the way for Samsung, finishing with four hits — including a home run — two RBIs and two runs scored. Returning from injury, Won Tae-in was sharp in his season debut, working 3 2/3 scoreless innings while allowing four hits, striking out three and issuing two walks. Reliever Jang Chan-hee followed with 2 1/3 innings, two hits, two strikeouts and two runs allowed.
NC starter Toda lasted just two innings, giving up four hits, walking two, striking out two and allowing four runs (three earned), taking the loss.
Samsung opened the scoring in the bottom of the second. Leadoff man Diaz singled, and Koo Ja-wook tripled home the game’s first run. With no outs and runners on first and third after Ryu Ji-hyuk walked, Jeon Byung-woo delivered an RBI single, an NC error produced another run, and Lee Jae-hyun’s sacrifice fly pushed the lead to 4-0.
On the mound, Won settled in and kept the Dinos off the board through two outs in the fourth inning.
Samsung built on that momentum in the bottom of the fourth. Kang Min-ho singled and Lee Jae-hyun drew a walk to put runners on first and second with no outs; an NC error produced a run, and Diaz’s RBI made it 6-0.
NC finally answered in the top of the sixth when Oh Young-soo and Lee Woo-sung hit back-to-back homers to cut the deficit to 6-2.
Samsung responded in the bottom of the sixth. Kim Ji-chan’s hit and an NC error set up runners at second with two outs, and Choi Hyung-woo’s RBI extended the lead to 7-2. In the seventh, with two outs and runners on first and second, Park Seung-gyu added an RBI to make it 8-2.
NC clawed one run back in the top of the eighth when a wild pitch with two outs and the bases loaded allowed a run to score, but the Dinos couldn’t rally further. Samsung put the game away in the bottom of the eighth when Diaz blasted a solo homer. The game ended with Samsung winning 9-3.
